Volunteer Spotlight

NIKI JAMIESON

I volunteer at SVdP because I believe that “Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.” 1 Peter 4:10 Not only does my service help those needing assistance, it fills my heart too!

OLGA SACASA

I volunteer with SVdP because, to me, it is important to help others and make a difference in my community to help it grow stronger. Volunteering is a personal way to give back. Helping those in need during a vulnerable time makes them stronger and give them a sense of hope.

SHARON BLACK

I personally have worked the pantry for over 20 years and currently work with Mr Phil D’Alleva. Phil and I have been working together now for the last several years and work well as a team.

Since we started, our pantry has relocated to a much larger space in the Parish Center. Thanks to Bob Jamieson we have shelving, two freezers and a full sized refrigerator. Our pantry is thankfully well stocked due to the generosity of all 3 St C communities and the school. Phil and I take pride in our mission to serve and are so happy to be able to provide healthy food items including fresh vegetables, cheese, eggs, meat , fish and chicken as well as items that the Spanish & Brazilian communities often request.

Other items such as toiletries, cleaning products and laundry detergent are also part of our inventory. Phil makes a weekly visit to the Food Bank as well as endless visits to local supermarkets picking up perishable items that we may need. He’s an excellent shopper and always finds the “bargains”.

We are truly blessed to be able to offer so much to so many in need. I feel fortunate to be a part of this mission.

I truly enjoy my work at the food pantry with SVDP and enjoy “shopping” for those that may need a little help. It’s very rewarding and gives me an opportunity to give back to our community and to work with such a wonderful group of volunteers.
